Research focus
My work focuses on long-term load forecasting and wildfire prevention at the grid level, contributing to a data portal for climate adaptation and grid resilience. I’m also developing a standardized data pipeline to process and analyze large-scale datasets for environmental and air quality insights.

I’m Rafiu Hossain, a fifth-year Electrical Engineering student at the University of Calgary with experience in power systems, embedded design, and sustainable energy. My past work includes developing solar systems with Project90, supporting GNSS/INS hardware at Hexagon, and leading a Capstone project on an IoT-based SCADA-integrated “black box” for remote power plants—recognized with a Capstone Fair Gold Medal. My hobbies include playing soccer and going to gym as well as poetry and casual market investing and research.
